2761. REICHLE, L., AND WEGERICH, A. (Badische Anilin- u. Soda-Fabrik). [Production of Isobutyl Alcohol.] German Patent 824,793, Dec. 13, 1951; appl. filed Dec. 10, 1949 (Cl. 12 o). Chem. Zentralb., vol. 123, 1952, p. 4529.

CO is reacted with H2 at raised temperature and under pressure. The gases and vapors issuing from the reaction vessel are dissociated without pressure release in a distillation column. As reflux, a condensate is used, which is separated from the gases and vapors without expansion. Further, a condensate obtained from the gases and vapors leaving the distillation column, together with the uncondensed portions still remaining, is wholly or partly returned to the reaction chamber.
