2755. REES, H. V. (Texaco Development Corp.). Process for Synthesis of Hydrocarbons and the Like. United States Patent 2,521,538, Sept. 5, 1950; appl. filed June 20, 1945, Serial No. 600,473; 3 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Chem. Abs., vol. 44, 1950, p. 11067.

Thin continuous layer of catalyst, 1/64 in. to 1.0 in. in thickness, lies on a porous surface through which the reactant gases diffuse by application of pressure differential great enough to cause diffusion without fracture or channeling of the catalyst. A cooling fluid is applied to either the exposed surface of the catalyst layer or to the surface of the supporting member opposite from that upon which the catalyst layer rests and out of contact with the catalyst. 1 foreign patent and 10 United States patents cited.
