CO and H2 in the ratio of 1:2 are passed at 200 C. over a catalyst containing Co, Th, and bleaching earths. The fraction b. above 320 C. is then treated with H2SO4. The oil thus prepared is cracked at 550-600 C., while returning products of high boiling point.
