2650. ------. [PIER, M.] (I. G. Farbenindustrie A. G.). [Reducing Oxides of Carbon.] German Patent 630,824, June 6, 1936; appl. I 35,544, filed Sept. 18, 1928 (Cl. 12 o-1.03). FIAT Reel AA 88, frame 3,710; PB 70,273; Chem. Abs., vol. 31, 1937, p. 227.

In the catalytic reduction of C oxides, enough hydrocarbons that are liquid under the conditions of the reaction are added to ensure that the process is completely carried out in the liquid phase. Thus, a kieselguhr-Ni-Al catalyst is suspended in heavy oil freed from S and a CO-H2 mixture led in, the CO being reduced mainly to CH4.
