2546. ------. [ODELL, W. W.] (Columbia Engineering & Management Corp.). Combustible Gas From Hydrocarbon Gas and Steam. United States Patent 1,841,201, Jan. 12, 1932; appl. filed Mar. 4, 1927. Chem. Abs., vol. 26, 1932, p. 1758.

Gas substantially free from suspended C resulting from hydrocarbon decomposition is produced by introducing a hydrocarbon gas into a mass of noncombustible checker material heated to a degree sufficient to decompose the hydrocarbon gas, and simultaneously introducing steam to effect reaction and formation of a gas comprising essentially H2 and CO in the proportion of 2:1 to 3:1.
