2542. ------. [ODELL, W. W.] (Columbia Engineering & Management Corp.). Combustible Gas. United States Patent 1,762,100, June 3, 1930; appl. filed Mar. 4, 1927. Chem. Abs., vol. 24, 1930, p. 3633.

Hydrocarbon gas is introduced into a mass of solid fuel heated to a temperature high enough to decompose the hydrocarbon gas, and steam is simultaneously introduced in quantity sufficient to effect substantially complete reaction with the hydrocarbon gas, thus producing a gas comprising essentially H2 and CO and in which the ratio of H2:CO is substantially from 2:1 to 3:1. Describes an arrangement of apparatus.
