2231. ------. [METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G.]. [Catalysts for Carbon Monoxide Hydrogenation.] German Patent Appl. M 146,710, no date (Cl. IV d-12 o). Auszüge deut. Patent-Anmeldungen, vol. 6, p. 272.

CO is hydrogenated to polymembered hydrocarbons in the presence of Fe catalysts at 5-25 atm. pressure and 200°-300°. The catalyst is made by precipitation from metal salt solution on to a support such as kieselguhr, reducing with H2 or other gases, at 200°-400°, followed by mild oxidation by steam. The catalyst contains ferrous oxide. Activators such as difficultly reducible metal oxides (Al2O3), Cu, and alkali compounds can be added.
