2188. ------. [MCGRATH, H. G.] (M. W. Kellogg Co.). Recovery of Products of Catalytic Hydrogenation of Oxides of Carbon. British Patent 682,154, Nov. 5, 1952. Chem. Abs., vol. 47, 1953, p. 7197.

Products of catalytic hydrogenation of C oxides are recovered by cooling to condense the normally liquid components. This gives an oil and a H2O phase. The oil phase is extracted with an aqueous solution of a nonacid solvent for oxygenated organic compounds to give a raffinate containing hydrocarbons and an extract: the extract contains the oxygenated organic compounds, the solvent, and H2O. The extract is distilled to obtain a fraction containing oxygenated compounds and H2O; the H2O is separated from the solution to give the desired organic compounds.
