Products of catalytic hydrogenation of C oxides are recovered by cooling to condense the normally liquid components. This gives an oil and a H2O phase. The oil phase is extracted with an aqueous solution of a nonacid solvent for oxygenated organic compounds to give a raffinate containing hydrocarbons and an extract: the extract contains the oxygenated organic compounds, the solvent, and H2O. The extract is distilled to obtain a fraction containing oxygenated compounds and H2O; the H2O is separated from the solution to give the desired organic compounds. |
