2157. MATHY, E. V. (Phillips Petroleum Co.). Production of Hydrocarbons. United States Patent 2,471,228, May 24, 1949; appl. filed Sept. 3, 1946, Serial No. 694,543; 3 claims (Cl. 196-52).

Mixture of gas oil and steam are passed through an elongated catalyst zone in contact with a bauxite cracking catalyst impregnated with about 5% by weight of Ni oxide synthesis catalyst. The temperature is 950°-1,000° F. and the flow rate 1 liquid vol. gas oil per volume of catalyst per hr. A mixture of H2 and CO in 3:1 vol. ratio is passed into the catalyst zone at a number of points along its length, 50,000 cu. ft. per hr. Hydrocarbons heavier than CH4 are formed. Cracked hydrocarbons and synthesized hydrocarbons including gasoline are recovered. 6 United States patents cited.
