2107. MANN, A., AND LORENZ, W. (Braunkohle-Benzin A. G.). [Catalytic Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.] German Patent 710,128, Sept. 4, 1941; appl. B 181,294, filed Dec. 29, 1937 (Cl. 12 o-1.03). Chem. Abs., vol. 37, 1943, p. 3589.

Reaction is catalyzed by reduced metals of the Fe group, especially Co. The metal is reduced, then passivated by prolonged treatment with CO2 at room temperature, followed by careful oxidation with air at room temperature, so that the temperature rise is at the most 3°-7°.
