Separation of the oxidation products from unaltered hydrocarbon as described in German Patent 467,930 (abs. 2727) is assisted by pressing the mass. The mixture of oxidation products and unaltered hydrocarbons may first be saponified, and the unsaponifiable portion of the oxidation products then separated from hydrocarbon by warming and pressing.
