2047. ------. [LICHTENBERGER, T., AND KAISER, L.] Water-Gas Generation. British Patent 465,548, May 10, 1937. Chem. Abs., vol. 31, 1937, p. 7231.

In the production of water gas by the reaction of steam and solid, liquid, or gaseous fuel in a shaft generator surrounded by a salt melt bath, the gases generated, comprising H2 and CO, unconverted gases such as CO2, CH4, and heavy hydrocarbons, together with the fuel residue are subjected to a steam and heat treatment in the salt melt bath to obtain a final gas mixture of H2 and CO only, which is withdrawn from the bath through a conduit.
