2044. LEWIS, W. K., AND MAIN, T. C. (Standard Oil Development Co.). [Synthetic Hydrocarbons.] French Patent 955,836, Jan. 19, 1950; appl. filed Nov. 19, 1947; in United States, Nov. 22, 1946. Chem. Zentralb., 1950, II, p. 339.

Hydrocarbons and oxygenated derivatives are produced from CO and H2 by use of a fluidized catalyst of powdered Fe at temperature and pressure, respectively, of 274°-343° and 17.5-49.2 atm. To maintain the heat capacity in the catalyst bed, there is added to the fine catalyst material about 60% of a somewhat larger particle size Fe powder of 80-200μ. The total amount of fine catalyst material of 0-20μ should not exceed 20%.
