In various processes such as MeOH synthesis or conversion of iso-Pr alcohol into acetone, mixtures of basic and acidic oxides (with the latter in excess) are used, prepared either by admixture or by igniting compounds, such as basic ZnNH₄ chromate, with or without small additions of alkali metal compounds, such as sulfates, phosphates, chromates, hydroxides, carbonates, metallates, or organic salts.
