Process for the manufacture of hydrocarbons from gases containing CO and H₂, such as coke water gas at normal, higher, and lower pressure, by means of catalysts of the Fe group comprising the flow of the synthesis gas 1^st of all over an Fe catalyst, then the removal of the hydrocarbons produced from the gas treated, further treating the gas being led over the Fe catalyst in the presence of a Co or Ni catalyst for the production of additional hydrocarbons, and finally separating from the gas the hydrocarbons formed.
