Fe catalyst is used consisting of Fe oxide in combination with Na- or K-silicates, such as, 86.5% Fe₂O₃, 13.5% Na₂O, 3.25% SiO₂. As activating agent Al₂O₃ or alkali fluoride is used. The catalyst is reduced with H₂ at 482°.
