Catalyst is suspended in the gas stream and all losses of catalyst are trapped and returned to the process. Excess heat is removed by evaporating low-boiling reaction products, which are injected at many points of the reaction chamber. H₂O may be used instead of hydrocarbons. The catalyst consists of Co, Ni, or Rh on activated bentonite as support.
