1823.  ------. [KEITH, P. C.] (M. W. Kellogg Co.). Synthesizing Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen. United States Patent 2,276,274, Mar. 17, 1942; appl. filed Aug. 4, 1937, Serial No. 157,341; 8 claims (Cl. 260-449). Chem. Abs., vol. 36, 1942, p. 4693.

Method employing an excess of CO with respect to H2 involves heating a mixture of CO and H2 to a synthesizing temperature, bringing the heated mixture into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst in a synthesis zone, separating unreacted gases to obtain a fraction predominating in CO, and admixing at least a part of this fraction with the CO and H2 being fed to the synthesis zone to maintain the desired excess of CO with respect to H2 during the synthesis.
