PATENTS 1773. 1773. ------. [JOHNSON, E. A.] (Standard Oil Co. of Indiana). [Iron Catalysts for Hydrocarbon Synthesis.] French patent 953,616, Dec. 9, 1940: appl. filed Sept. 30, 1947. in United States Oct. 14, 1944. Chem. Zentralb., 1950. II, p. 367. Finely divided catalyst, which has a particle size of 10-200 microns, is first activated in an oxidation zone in presence of free O2 at 371°-1,093° and then reduced with H2 at the same temperature. As catalyst a finely divided carrier of alumina is used, which has been impregnated with Fe nitrate. Activation of the catalyst is carried out in a column where the solid and finely divided flowing catalyst is in touch with the O2 or H2 passing therethrough. |
