Oxygenated organic compounds in diluted aqueous solution such as obtained in
the Fischer-Tropsch process, may be recovered by extraction with a disulfide of
the type RSSR', where R and R' are hydrocarbon groups, and subsequent
fractionation of the disulfide solution.
