1766. ------. [JENNY, F. J., AND RIBLETT, E. W.] (Hydrocarbon Research, Inc.). Process for Synthesizing Hydrocarbons. United States Patent 2,474,845, July 5, 1949; appl. filed Sept. 12, 1944; 5 claims (Cl. 260-449.6). Chem. Abs., vol. 43, 1949, p. 7213.

Synthesis gas is passed under reacting and fluidizing conditions through powdered Fe catalyst, preferably Fe itself. The reaction gases are withdrawn and cooled to separate a liquid fraction that is injected into the catalyst mass at a number of succeeding points spaced apart in the direction of reactant travel. This maintains good fluidization and effects close temperature control. The reaction gases remain uncondensed at the stage where the liquid fraction is taken for recycling to the reactor and go to a recovery plant where the products are collected by fractionation.
