1752. ------. [JAEGAR, A. O.] (Selden Co.). Exothermic Vapor-Phase Catalytic Reactions. United States Patent 1,900,715, Mar. 7, 1933. Chem. Abs., vol. 27, 1933, p. 3017.

In effecting reactions such as oxidations of aromatic hydrocarbons, the reaction gases are passed through at least 1 catalyst zone and the exothermic heat of reaction is absorbed by a nonboiling liquid in heat-exchange relation to the reacting gases; the liquid is removed from the catalytic zone, its pressure is reduced to permit a part at least of the exothermic heat absorbed to be given off as latent heat of vaporization, the vapors are condensed, and the condensate and unboiled liquid are returned to the catalytic zone at the pressure there existing.
