1711. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] [Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.] French Patent 855,270, May 7, 1940; appl. filed May 25, 1939. Chem. Zentralb., 1940, II, p. 2987.

Catalyst is so arranged in narrow tubes surrounded by cooling liquid that the reacting gases are able to move along the walls without hindrance through the catalyst, while in the axial space of the tube no room is left that is not filled with catalyst. The catalyst pieces have a somewhat smaller cross section than the tube itself so that a free space of about 0.2-2 mm. is left. A very even temperature is maintained throughout the whole reaction space.
