1710. ------. [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.] [Synthesis of Hydrocarbons From Carbon Monoxide and Hydrogen.] French Patent 855,136, May 3, 1940; appl. filed May 22, 1939. Chem. Zentralb., 1940, II, p. 2987.

Gases leaving the reactor are recycled at least with 20 times (better 50-500) the amount of fresh gas. By this means the heat of reaction is almost wholly removed and the reactor temperature regulated without harmful increase. The reaction gases are cooled and mixed with the fresh gas until they are at the right temperature for the synthesis. A part of the reaction gas is drawn off and the reaction products recovered while the remainder is recycled to the reactor. The temperature rise in the reactor should not exceed 50° . The flow velocity is so regulated that at each passage the gases remain in the reactor 0.1-5 sec.
