1645.  ------.  [INTERNATIONAL HYDROCARBON SYNTHESIS CO.]  [Catalyst for the Hydrogenation of Carbon Monoxide.]  French Patent 863,311. Mar. 29, 1941.  Chem. Abs., vol. 42. 1948. p. 9124.

In preparing a reducible compound of Co, the Co salt solution is added slowly, for example, over 50 hr., to the precipitating liquid or vise versa.  The Ca salt solution may contain Fe and/or Ni salts, and oxides of Th, Mg, or Al can be added as activators.  Usually, 308% of Co is present in the Fe-Ni-Co mixture.  The precipitation can be effected on diatomaceous earth.  By reducing the precipitants the catalyst is obtained.  Several examples given.
