            Unsaturated hydrocarbons boiling at a low temperature and other organic compounds free from O are prepared by treating CO with H₂ at a high temperature in the presence of catalysts containing metals of the 8^th group (100 parts), alkali compounds (0.3-0.6 parts of alkali metal), and S (0.15-0.4 parts).  The S may be replaced by Te or Se.
