      1504.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Production of Oxygenated Organic Compounds.]  German Patent Appl. I 71,700, OZ 13,284, filed Mar. 4. 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o).  FIAT Reel 167, frames 5,950-5,955: PB 75,563: TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454, item 21. 6 pp.; Meyer Transl. PC-S-V, Oxo, vol. 1, chap. 12, 1948, p. 31.

In producing aldehydes, ketones, and alcohols by treating olefin compounds with double bonds at increased temperature and pressure with CO and H2 in presence of catalysts, the catalysts specified here are the organic compounds of the catalyst metal soluble in organic solvents.  Especially suitable for this purpose are the Co, Ni, or Fe salts of high-molecular fatty acids, of the wholly or partly hydrogenated aromatic carboxylic acids, such as hexahydrobenzoic acid, and of other cycle acids, such as naphthenic acid.  The saturated hydrocarbons or ethers, especially the raw material supplied for the conversion, as for example, diisobutylene, are mentioned as inert solvents.
