PATENTS 1474. ------. [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.] [Producing Oxygenated Organic Compounds.] German Patent Appl. I 73,072. OZ 13,634. filed Aug. 31, 1942 (Cl. IV d-12 o). FIAT Reel 168. frames 7,221-7,227: PB 68,507: TOM Reel 36, bag 3,454. item 21. 6 pp.: Meyer Transl. PC-S-V, Oxo, vol. 1. chap. 23. 1948. p. 57. In effecting the reaction of Co and H2 on olefins for the production of oxygenated compounds, it has been found that the best temperature range for the reaction lies 80º-150º. To control most favorably the heat of reaction, it is found best to begin the conversion near the lower part of the temperature range and increase the temperature gradually toward the end of the reaction. In this manner the speed of conversion is maintained at a normal rate, and the yield of conversion products is improved. Gives diagram of an apparatus with 2 converters suitable for controlling the temperature of the process as suggested. |
