1454.  ------.  [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.]  [Process for Separating Mixtures of Alcohols and Hydrocarbons by Means of Adsorption Agents.]  German Patent Appl.- -, filed Oct. 5, 1942.  TOM Reel 19, item 141. frames 1,661-1,664.

The mixture is broken down into fractions, which consist of alcohols and hydrocarbons of about the same molar magnitude, and each of these fractions are contacted with adsorbent materials, which adsorb the alcohols.  These are then recovered by means of solvents or if desired by superheated steam or hot gases.  A fraction of higher boiling range may be brought into contact with the adsorbing material retaining the alcohols, and the adsorbed higher-molecular alcohols are removed from the adsorbent with a lower boiling fraction of the alcohol-hydrocarbon mixture.
