            In preparing oxygenated organic compounds by the interaction of CO and H₂ with olefins with double bonds at raised temperature and pressure, the catalysts consist of the oxides of the catalyst metals, particularly Fe, Co, or Ni.  Example: In preparing the catalyst there is added to a solution of 120 parts of crystallized Co (NO₂)₂ in 400 parts of H₂O at 25º a solution of 75 parts of (NH₄)₂MoO₄ (3(NH₄)₂0.7 MoO₃.4 H₂O).  After addition of 300 parts of 20% NH₃ the solution is evaporated to dryness.  The dry residue is heated by slow stages to 300º and maintained at this temperature for about 20m minutes.
