PATENTS 1434. ------. [I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE, A. G.] [Process for Producing Motor Fuels.] German Patent Appl. I 65,742, OZ 11,807. filed Oct. 4. 1939 (Cl. IV d-23 b). FIAT Reel 162. frames 426-431: PB 68,971. In a process for producing antiknock motor fuels from aliphatic hydrocarbon mixtures, such as the middle oil from the Fischer-Tropsh synthesis, by catalytic cracking at temperatures 420º-560º in presence of H2, the raw material in vapor state, together with H2 is passed, under a total pressure of 3-25 atm. and a H2-partial pressure of not > 1.2 but at least 25% of the total pressure, over oxides of the metals of groups 2-6 (particularly V, Cr, Mo, or W on active alumina), the H2-containing gases leaving the converter being recirculated without addition of fresh H2 in an amount of about 0.3-2 m.3 per kg. of raw material. Example: In addition to 16.5% of gaseous hydrocarbons, a liquid product is obtained containing 44% gasoline and 56% middle oil. The gasoline has an octane number 64 and 40% boils up to 100º, its aromatic content is 29% and 40% boils up to 100º, its aromatic content is 29% and olefins only 1.5%. The middle oil b. 200º-343º and, as its aniline point of 45º shows, is highly aromatized in comparison with the original oil. |
