G.] [Preparation of Paraffin Oxidation Products.] German Patent I 74,630. OZ 14,082, filed Mar. 20, 1943 (Cl. IV d-23 b). FIAT Reel 169, frames 8,650-8,652: PB 25,613: Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV. Wax Oxidation, vol. 3, chap. 54, 1949. p. 45. Paraffin oxidation products are prepared from high boiling paraffins by subjecting them before oxidation to a refining pressure hydrogenation in which there occurs simultaneously a mild cracking to form paraffins b. about 170º-325º under 5 mm. Vacuum. The catalyst consists of active alumina together with sulfides of metals of group 6 of the periodic table and Ni or Co sulfides. Example: Paraffin, which has been obtained by extraction with synthesis gasoline of a Co-MgO-kieselguhr catalyst used in CO conversion, m. 96º and b. >325º under 5 mm. Pressure, is heated under a pressure of 250 atm. with 3 m.3 of H2 per kg. Paraffin and passed at 400º through the reaction zone. A catalyst is used consisting of 70 parts active alumina, 25 W oxide and 6 Ni oxide, the W and Ni oxides being treated with S. The throughput is 1 kg. of charge per 1. of catalyst per hr. A product is obtained containing about 50% of a paraffin b. 170º-325º under 5 mm. vacuum and 5% constituents boiling up to 340º. The constituents b. >325º under vacuum are separated by high-pressure H2O distillation and recycled. |
