I 78,338, OZ 14,975, filed Oct. 9, 1944 (Cl. IV d-12 6). FIAT Reel 171, frames 10,869-10,874: PB 25,615: Meyer Transl. PC-S-IV. Wax Oxidation. Vol. 3, chap.. 46, 1949, p. 27. Dicarboxylic acids with 5 or more C atoms in the molecule are made from saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons with 5 or more C atoms in the molecule, such as the paraffin obtained by CO hydrogenation and b. 240º-260º, by oxidation with HNO3, with the addition, if necessary , of nitrous gases and perhaps O2 or gases containing it. The concentration of the HNO3 is maintained >60% by weight (preferably >75%). Based on the total amount of H2O present in the reaction mixture, the oxidation being carried out at temperatures <100º (preferably <70º). The operation may be carried out under raised pressure in the presence of catalysts and solvents. |
