            Hydrocarbons are made from CO and H₂ in the presence of solid catalysts and working under ordinary pressure in the gaseous phase.  The catalyst is passed continuously through the reaction chamber and recycled, if necessary, after a complementary regeneration.  Excess heat is dissipated by the use of cooled surfaces, such as by using plate furnaces or rotary tubular furnaces.  Describes apparatus.
