H2 and oxides of C are passed under pressures of 10-100 atm. or higher and at temperatures of 200º-600º over catalysts containing metal sulfide such as those of Co or Cu or Zn chromate or metal oxides that have been treated with H2S. The apparatus should be free from Fe, especially the heated parts that come into contact with the reacting mixture. An Al-lined apparatus may be used. |
