Stream of synthesis gas in which powdered, Fe catalyst is suspended, 10-50 lb. per cu. ft. density, flows through an elongated reaction zone, 20-75 ft., at a velocity such that the flow of catalyst and gas is concurrent and the residence time not more than 20 sec., 3-10 sec. preferred. The temperature at the inlet is 550º F. and at the outlet 700º-750º.
