Benzine-like substances are obtained by polymerizing olefinic hydrocarbons. The polymerization s done under pressure at an elevated temperature. As the polymerization progresses, the rate of flow of the unpolymerized part is gradually slowed down. This is conveniently done, for example, by gradually increasing the cross-sectional area across which the gas flows.
