For production of lubricants by polyemerization of the hydrogenation products of CO with AlCl₃ or other polymerization agents, materials are used that are obtained through the use of water gas at a recycle ratio of 1:3-1:5. Mixtures b. 150° and above, preferably 220° and above, are suitable as raw materials.
