Normally liquid, highly branched primary trisecanol has a b.p. 103º-112º at a pressure of 4 mm. It is a hydrogenation product of the highly branched C₁₃ aldehyde obtained by simultaneous reaction of CO and H₂ with tetrapropylene in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
