Patent Abstracts

Char is completely gasified in a fluidized-bed process with heat-recovery feature. The feed is forced into the bottom of an annular upward-moving bed, where it is preheated by product gas. The hot char overflows into the interior fluidized bed, where it is gasified with O₂ and steam. The product gas in passing down through the outer annular bed is cooled to about 1,150º F. and freed of entrained solids.
