[Removing Organically Bound Sulfur From Water Gas.] German Patent 702,605, Jan. 16, 1941 (Cl. 22 d-13.10). Chem. Abs., vol. 35. 1941. p. 8263. Describes change in procedure whereby the gas to be desulfurized is mixed with oxidants, for example. Cl, H2O2, O3, and the mixture passed through activated C. The latter is not necessarily impregnated with oxidants as required in German Patent 701,758 (abs. 808). In the case, for example, the gas is mixed with Cl and the activated C is saturated with Na2CO3. Also the gas to be purified can be mixed with NO or NH3, and, in this case, it is advisable to add a base to the activated C. |
