Method of manufacturing fuels from CO and H₂ in presence of a catalyst constituted of a mixture of oxides, including at least 1 oxide of the group consisting of Li, Na, K, Rb, and Cs and at least 1 of the group Zn, Cd, Hg, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, and Re, under conditions of pressure, temperature, and rate of flow corresponding to the formation of alcohols and hydrocarbons, which are mostly unsaturated, without substantial formation of MeOH, dehydrating to transform the alcohols into hydrocarbons, separating the liquid hydrocarbons from the gaseous hydrocarbons, and polymerizing the latter into liquid hydrocarbons.
