Invention provides a limited range of operation within which the feed gas composition may be adjusted to control net CO₂ production to the desired value. With upper limits of 15% CO and 3%, preferably 1%, H₂O vapor and with lower limits of 15% CO₂ and 2.5 1:=H₂:CO ratio, it is simply necessary to adjust until the specific predetermined conditions are met. In general the conditions thus determined are also favorable to suppressing formation of light hydrocarbon gases such as CH₄. Fluidized Fe catalyst is used. Temperature range is 550º-700º F. and pressure 200-250 p. s. i. 1 literature ref., 1 foreign patent, and 7 United States patents cited.
