CO₂ is absorbed by slightly moistened (10-20% moisture) solid Ca(OH)₂. The absorbent 0.5-1 cm. in size, is packed in a tower through which the gases are passed. To purify 1,000 m.³ per hr. of a gas containing 3% CO₂, a capacity of 20 m.³ is required, as compared with 45 m.³ required by the ordinary method.
