In the continuous production of synthesis gas from fuels containing sold, volatile constituents by gasification with O2 and steam, the gas formed in the distillation zone is so introduced into a layer of coke at increased temperature that between the distillation zone and the gasification zone a decomposition zone is formed in which the hydrocarbons are decomposed. |
