Abs., vol. 9, p. 2452. In the manufacture of a combustible liquid, compounds of the CH4, ethylene, or acetylene series, such as the dry distillation products from peat, coal, etc., are heated with H2O to 2,000º. The resulting liquid consists of a mixture of several heavy hydrocarbons and their isomers and in composition is intermediate between the CH4 and the ethylene series.
