Patent Abstracts

Saturated aldehydes and ketones are prepared from olefins, CO, and H₂ in presence of a hydrogenation catalyst at 125º-350º and pressures >300 atm. The catalyst, a soluble salt of Co or Cu (CoCl₂.6 H₂O, Co(OAc),4 H₂O, Co naphtherate, etc.) used in amounts of 0.1-3% of the total reaction mixture, is recycled as a distillation residue from the distillation of the reaction product.
