Process is employed for the catalytic conversion of CO and H2 into hydrocarbons containing more than 1 C atom in the molecule while contained in a hydrocarbon oil, which involves passing the oil along the catalyst chamber in indirect heat exchange relation with the reaction participants introduced into and passing through the catalyst chamber, and thereupon passing the oil through the catalyst chamber in the same direction as the reaction participants.
