Catalytic interaction of CO and H₂ is effected at approximately atmospheric pressure for the production of MeOH, CH₂O, HOAc, acetone, and higher alcohols, acids, ketones, and hydrocarbons. Catalysts may be used such as are specified in abs. 89, 91, 514, 538, 540, and 3289: CH₄-forming catalysts are excluded.
