             Production of hydrocarbons is effected by a process that involves subjecting CO and H2 in a proportion of 1:2 vol., respectively, to reaction in the presence of a catalyst comprising Co together with minor proportions of ThO2 and Cu, supported on a carrier of kieselguhr, under a pressures not substantially above atmospheric and at 195º, the amount of kieselguhr used being 20-30 times that of the active catalytic material that is carried on it.
